Nest Aware is now Google Home Premium
Google renamed Nest Aware to Google Home Premium. Standard replaces Nest Aware, Advanced replaces Nest Aware Plus, and both plans cover all the Nest cameras in your home on one subscription [S5]. The older Nest Aware (1st gen) works differently: it is a separate subscription for each camera [S5].
Advanced doesn't add 24/7 recording to this doorbell
The Advanced plan's 10 days of 24/7 history applies to wired cameras and doorbells. Google says the Nest Doorbell (battery) can't record 24/7, even if you wire it [S1][S2]. For this doorbell, Advanced mostly adds 60 days of event history plus AI search and summaries [S4].
Setup requirements
The doorbell needs the Google Home app and a Google Account. It doesn't work with the old Nest app [S1]. If you want your existing wired chime to ring, you have to connect the doorbell to your doorbell wiring [S1].
Common questions
Can the Nest Doorbell (battery) record 24/7?
No. Google says it can't record 24/7 video history, even with the optional wired installation and even on the Advanced plan [S1][S2].
Is Nest Aware still sold?
Google says Nest Aware is now Google Home Premium. Standard replaces Nest Aware and Advanced replaces Nest Aware Plus [S5].
